$7,800 Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant Gives Betel Pottery Program Room to Grow

On Wednesday, June 19, the Bernard Betel Centre welcomed members of the public to a Health Fair and ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the addition of a new kiln for the centre’s bustling pottery program. Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) volunteer Justin Mooney was on hand to congratulate the Centre on the work done after receiving a $7,800 OTF grant in 2019 and to hear more about how the new state-of-the-art kiln is already making a difference to our members and the community.

Quick facts:

  • New kiln to serve hundreds of older adults in Toronto and York Region
  • Additional kiln space ensures more low-cost and free classes for members at the Bernard Betel Centre
  • Artists can now create larger, more sophisticated pieces because of the new kiln

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations. OTF awarded more than $120 million to some 700 projects last year to build healthy and vibrant communities in Ontario.
