On Sunday, October 6, the Bernard Betel Centre hosted the third annual High Holiday Community Luncheon to celebrate the Jewish New Year and raise awareness about the day-to-day realities faced by vulnerable members of our community. The event was co-sponsored by CIJA and UJA Federation of Greater Toronto and brought together elected officials from both provincial and municipal governments and local social service agencies, including Bernard Betel Centre, JIAS Toronto, Reena, Kehilla Residential Programme, Circle of Care, and Jewish Family and Child, to serve lunch to over 200 guests.
The Luncheon included remarks from CIJA, UJA Federation and our Executive Director, Gail Gould, as well as MPPs Roman Baber, Faisal Hassan, and Kathleen Wynne, Toronto City Councillors James Pasternak and Shelley Carroll and Vaughan City Councillor Sandra Yeung Rocco. Everyone enjoyed a delicious holiday meal, great entertainment and dancing during this warm and welcoming annual community event.
