The Bernard Betel Centre (BBC) is a publicly funded agency that focuses on empowering seniors to lead active, creative, and healthy lifestyles, in a Jewish environment. Based in north central Toronto, serving over 5,000 seniors, we provide exemplary, multilingual educational, cultural and wellness programs in a safe and supportive environment to encourage healthy, active and creative living for individuals 55+.
BBC is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors elected at the Annual General Meeting. Due to COVID-19 and the need for physical distancing our Annual General Meeting will be scheduled VIA Zoom for September 14, 2021 in Toronto, Ontario.
This is a call for nominations to fill existing Board vacancies at this meeting.
The Nominations Committee is particularly interested in candidates with experience and skills in quality/risk management and marketing/fundraising. Previous Board experience, familiarity with and interest in the Jewish community are assets. We are strongly encouraging applicants from diverse communities to apply. Board members are elected to a two-year term and are expected to attend six to eight Board meetings per year.
Priority will be given to those candidates residing in Toronto due to City of Toronto funding requirements.
Interested individuals may submit their candidacy or nominate others to the Board by submitting a cover letter and resume by July 23, 2021. Please submit to the address or email below. All interviews will be held via Zoom. We thank all candidates in advance for their interest in the work of the Bernard Betel Centre. All inquiries will receive a response.
