In the evening of Tuesday, January 10, the Gallery Reception for “Keeping Connected” Miles Nadal JCC‘s new gallery exhibit is featuring the work from our Drawing & Acrylic and Intermediate Watercolour classes took place. This free event was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the Bernard Betel Centre’s Drawing & Acrylic and Intermediate Watercolour programs with a collection of art in different mediums from older adult artists. “Keeping Connected” has extended the show until February 26! If you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, you still have time! Visit the Gallery at the J at 750 Spadina Avenue in downtown Toronto.
The Drawing & Acrylic and Intermediate Watercolour programs at the Bernard Betel Centre offer a deep sense of belonging for older adult artists in the Bathurst-Steeles community. The centre’s art classes offer a chance for older adults to discover their inner artist and learn new techniques from teachers and their peers while staying connected to each other. This collection features the art of older adults at the Bernard Betel Centre in watercolour, acrylic and pencil. Working in the medium of their choosing, these pieces capture the sense of connection felt working in a group setting, with the dedication to continue to show up weekly. Some of the artists only took up painting after retirement, others have now found the time to dedicate towards their passion.
