On the evening of Wednesday, April 5th, the community gathered at the Bernard Betel Centre for the 50th Annual Community Seder, and the first in-person Seder since 2019! It was a wonderful evening that was generously sponsored by Anne Tanenbaum z’l Passover Seder Fund at the Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto, and in partnership with Association of Jewish Seniors, CIJA, and UJA Federation of Greater Toronto.

THANKS TO THE BETEL CENTRE AND STAFF FOR HOSTING THE SEDER. I WAS SEATED AT A TABLE WITH MEN AND ONE FRIENDLY TEEN GIRL WHO HAD BEEN TO ISRAEL, SO WE HAD A COMMON INTEREST FOR CONVERSATION. I WAS SPEAKING WITH THE MAN TO MY LEFT, WITH MY HEAD TURNED TOWARDS HIM, AND THE WAITRESS DID NOT SERVE MY MAIN COURSE.. SHE DID NOT TRY TO GET MY ATTENTION TO ASK WHAT I WOULD LIKE. I HAD TO GO TO THE KITCHEN TO LET THEM KNOW THAT I HAD NOT BEEN SERVED MY MEAL. THEY SENT ME HOME WITH A “CARE PACKAGE” OF A PIECE OF CHICKEN. ELEANOR RICHMOND
