The Bernard Betel Centre for Creative Living (BBC) is a publicly funded not-for-profit agency that focuses on empowering seniors to lead active, creative, and healthy lifestyles, in a Jewish environment. Based in north central Toronto, serving over 5,000 seniors annually, we provide exemplary, multilingual educational, cultural and wellness programs in a safe and supportive environment to encourage healthy, active and creative living for individuals 55+.
The Bernard Betel Centre is governed by a 15 member volunteer Board of Directors elected at the Annual General Meeting. This year, the Annual and Special Meeting of the Members is scheduled for Tuesday, September 12, 2023 in Toronto, Ontario.
The call for nominations is to fill existing Board vacancies at this meeting.
The Nominating Committee is particularly interested in candidates with previous Board experience and experience and skills in one or more of the following areas:
- Quality/Risk Management/Accreditation;
- Individuals with a professional designation in Accounting CPA CA;
- Fundraising and Donor Recruitment;
- Health Sector or Not-for-Profit organization.
Familiarity and interest in the Jewish community are assets.
We are strongly encouraging applicants from diverse communities to apply.
Board members are elected to a two-year term and can currently serve 5 terms for a maximum of 10 years. Board Members are expected to attend eight to ten Board meetings per year, and sit on a Board committee with a further commitment of four to six meetings per year.
