Bernard Betel Centre Receives Seniors Community Grant for Elder Abuse Program

The Bernard Betel Centre is pleased to receive $24,820 from the Seniors Community Grant to fund the T.R.E.E. ( Teach. Reflect. Eliminate Elder Abuse) project.

The T.R.E.E. project is focused on raising awareness about elder abuse and fraud by educating vulnerable older adults and community members through a series of workshops and art-related activities in multiple languages. It also aims to reduce isolation by providing support, social programming and reassurance to the most vulnerable members of our community, older isolated immigrant seniors and Holocaust Survivors. The project is also be engaging immigrant older adults as well as newcomers in meaningful volunteer opportunities to give back to their communities while developing valuable skills, experience and networks.
