Message from Gail Gould, Executive Director

Dear Bernard Betel Centre Members and Community,

Like many of you, we are watching the recent events unfolding in Israel with heavy hearts. The violence and uncertainty are deeply distressing, especially for those who have family, friends, and loved ones directly affected.

At moments like this, the distance between us and Israel feels very small. Our connections, personal, historical, and spiritual, remind us that we are bound together in both celebration and sorrow. We know that times of conflict can bring fear, grief, anger, and confusion. Please know that you are not alone. Our community is here to support one another with compassion, dignity, and care. We encourage everyone to check in on friends and family, reach out if you need support, and create space for respectful dialogue and reflection.

We want to reassure Bernard Betel Centre members and community that your safety and well-being is paramount. Out of an abundance of caution, we have heightened our security measures and are remaining especially vigilant during this time. When visiting the Centre, you may be asked to identify yourself and state your purpose when buzzing our security system. We understand that this may feel different from our usual routine, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding given the current global events. These measures are in place to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.

In challenging moments, our strength has always come from community from showing up for one another. May we continue to stand together.

With care,

Gail Gould
Executive Director
