Trips & Travel

We offer organized day trips and overnight travel led by trained volunteers and staff. Our day trips are one-day excursions that include cruises, theatre, casinos, sightseeing or antiques shopping. Participants have the opportunity to visit new cities and towns, and to socialize with new and old friends.

Our overnight trips range in length from a few days to a few weeks, and include Canadian, North American and international destinations, all at an affordable cost and an appropriate pace for older adult travelers.

Stratford Festival: “Something Rotten”
Thursday, May 30
The Bottom brothers, two struggling playwrights in Renaissance London, need a hit. That’s easier said than done when your chief competition is William Shakespeare. The Bottom brothers’ plan: write the world’s first musical! This is a rollicking song-and-dance extravaganza that sends up the Bard and Broadway and everything in between. 2:00 pm show time. Bus departs at 9:00 am from the Bernard Betel Centre.
Cost: $130. Includes bus transportation and orchestra level tickets.

Port Dover and Whistling Gardens
Monday, June 10 – SOLD OUT
Port Dover is in Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada, on the north shore of Lake Erie. It has many popular attractions, including Lighthouse Festival Theatre, Port Dover Beach, and Port Dover Lighthouse, making it well worth a visit. Whistling Gardens celebrates the spring blooms with incredible displays of flowers and flowering trees. Lunch included. Bus departs at 8:00 am from the Bernard Betel Centre.
Cost: $140. Includes bus transportation, tour guide, lunch and admission to Whistling Gardens.

Muskoka Lunch and Cruise: Muskoka Steamships
Wednesday, July 24
Muskoka Steamships in Gravenhurst, Ontario gives visitors the chance to cruise Lake Muskoka in a historic steamship. We will visit the Muskoka Discovery Centre and explore all of the incredible exhibits and galleries! Bus departs at 8:00 am from the Bernard Betel Centre.
Cost: $165. Includes bus transportation, tour guide, cruise, lunch and admission to Muskoka Discovery Centre.

Shaw Festival Theatre: “One Man, Two Guvnors”
Tuesday, August 6
Everybody at the circus loves the clowns. So, when you say, “This man is a clown,” what you’re really saying is, “I love you. By Richard Bean Based on The Servant of Two Masters by Carlo Goldoni   With songs by Grant Olding. 2:00 pm show time. Bus departs at 9:00 am from the Bernard Betel Centre.

 St. Jacobs Market and Country Playhouse: “Kiss Me Kate” – SOLD OUT
Thursday, August 22
Sophisticated, romantic, and delightfully hilarious, Kiss Me, Kate is a sparkling battle of the sexes that is a love letter to both Shakespeare and showbiz. Discover its timeless charm in this song-and-dance extravaganza heralded as a defining musical of the 20th century. 2:00 pm show time. Bus departs at 9:00 am from the Bernard Betel Centre.

Shaw Festival Theatre: “My Fair Lady” – SOLD OUT
Thursday, September 5
Based on the play Pygmalion by Bernard Shaw, it’s the story of Eliza Doolittle, a cockney flower girl caught in the middle of a bet between Henry Higgins, a professor of phonetics and Colonel Pickering, a fellow linguist. 2:00 pm show time. Bus departs at 9:00 am from the Bernard Betel Centre.
Cost: $130. Includes bus transportation and orchestra level tickets.

Stratford Festival:  “La Cage aux Folles”        
Thursday, September 12
La Cage aux Folles “has been delighting audiences since its Broadway première in 1983, when it won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Fans of the Oscar-nominated film The Bird Cage (inspired by the French play the musical takes its name and inspiration from) will rejoice in seeing familiar characters on the stage! 2:00 pm show time. Bus departs at 9:00 am from the Bernard  Betel Centre.
Cost: $140. Includes bus transportation and orchestra level tickets.
