A Special Tribute to our Bernard Betel Centre Volunteers

It was an honour and privilege to once again celebrate our volunteers at the Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner. 180 volunteers attended the special event which was held on June 12. Bonnie Baker, Board President and Igor Skapinker, Vice-President opened the evening with a warm welcome in English and Russian. Board members, Marsha Zinberg and Irving Lefler said the Hamotzi – Blessing Over the Bread. Throughout the evening, the Bernard Betel Centre staff shared their thoughts and thanks to the volunteers.

Volunteers reaching a milestone level of service were congratulated and asked to stand for recognition by Gail Gould, Executive Director, and long-time volunteer Evelyn Rabkin was presented with an award in recognition of her 30 years of outstanding contribution and service to the Bernard Betel Centre.

The event was sponsored by Four Elms Retirement Residence, and Clarice Zimel, 20 year milestone volunteer, was the winner of their raffle prize, and was presented with a beautiful gift basket. Guests were served a delicious kosher meal prepared by our catering department. Volunteer graphic designer Talya Moshinsky created the beautiful invitations and program booklet, which matched the blue and white colour scheme in the decorations and linens.

Entertainment was provided by Chantelle Epstein, who created “Heal with Harmony”, an organization that performs and brings joy to others through music and song, and a video slideshow with images of our volunteers in action was one of the highlights of the evening.

Charles Greene, our photographer for the event captured the energy, enthusiasm and warmth of the evening. When the images become available, a link to the full album of photos will be posted on this page and in the Fall 2019 edition of The Monitor.

Thank you to our wonderful Bernard Betel Centre volunteer team! We could not provide the level of excellent service without your dedication, commitment and passion.
